The Prison Reclamation Project is a collaboration between a group of artists and architects to propose alternate uses for existing prisons. The Desert Time Capsule re-imagines Calipatria State Prison as an enormous archive of human culture and activities, designed to last for thousands of years. The Pelican Bay Wilderness Area proposes allowing the ecology of the temperate rainforest around Pelican Bay State Prison to reclaim the structure; the prison grounds become habitat for disappearing wildlife. The Good Life Begins Here proposes to transform Pelican Bay prison into the world’s most unique and challenging golf course.
